Murphy McGinnis Interactive (MMI) was born in December 1997 when Superior Publishing Corporation (SPC) purchased Simberg, Inc. from Neal Oberg, current general manager of MMI.
At that time, there were only two employees that were based in a small office at the Superior Daily Telegram. The mission at the beginning was to help SPC newspapers get their content on-line.
Since that time, the company has expanded into web development with four full-time web developers. It also has a team of four programmers to introduce new products for 14 newspapers and many other web clients. The sales staff has also grown to five full-time employees.
In April 1999, MMI started an ISP in northeastern Minnesota and have grown the business considerably with the acqusition of Superior Broadband, a wireless internet service provider.
Today, the MMI team has 24 employees. In all, the company has over 300 business clients all over Minnesota and Wisconsin and beyond. MMI also helps serve web development for Morgan Murphy television stations in Wisconsin and Washington state. MMI is now located at the former First National Bank building in Duluth, 223 West Michigan Street.
The focus of MMI today is quality web development, superior Internet access through MMI Internet Services and Superior Broadband, new and creative e-commerce products, banner ads that capture the powerful network of community websites throughout northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin and fresh and exciting content for its web sites. Plans for the future include the creation of more e-commerce solutions for businesses through software development and continued quality service to all of our clients.
